blackpool remembers
1st - 2nd July 2006
This was the first weekend in a 2 week wartime remembrance, in and around Lawson's field ground, Blackpool. After last years fiasco with the lack of security in camping, we all stayed at "Stainless" Bob's just down the road, where we had a very loud and drunken party on the Friday evening. In the field on Saturday, we had a great line up of vehicles, the Dodge's are becoming more common than the Jeep nowadays...
Like last year, it was very hot, and we met loads of interesting vets, with stories to tell in their abundance. Unfortunatly "Ruthie" Willys was not well again, she had a brake shoe stick on during the trip down, and back, so was a little tender. Brake cylinder was sticking, already had a pair in stock, so will be ready for the B.A.D.2 gathering in a week.
The
Big MAC reversing out of Bob's drive, blocking the main road into
Blackpool......
Geoff's
Dodge WC51, festooned with weapons and all sorts of stuff.

Rupert and Simon in a more relaxed pose in the sun.

On the way back from the pub in the afternoon, Bob thought it a good idea to have a drive through the countryside in convoy.
Richard's MAC only just made it !!!!

Sober, but not for long. Just before the evening at the Plough at Staining. Music by Hep Cat Mike again, fantastic evening. But more to follow. I am second from right.
Simon
and Rupert, dancing AGAIN. Other photos I can't possibly show here.....
Out Hosts for the evening, Sandra, Bob and Jane,
Many thanks for the weekend... cheers
A call for the taxi at Jane's house, lead to
other things, skinny dipping in the pool at 2am. Again, most of the pool photos
, I can not show here, (Eh Simon) !!!!!.

"DIVE !! DIVE !! DIVE !!"
The end of the day for a very knackered looking Bob and Richard.. The words on the truck door, says it all!!!!
By not camping on Lawson's field, and so not being inundated with drugies and undesirables, we could relax and have a fabulous weekend, loads to eat and drink, and a great time by all. Many thanks to Bob and Sandra for inviting us all to their house and their fabulous garden shed of all sheds, ok, log cabin and bar. Cheers....
