30th - 31st May 2009

By special invitation only.

Training day with Fox Company.

Ingleton Home Guard went on secret manoeuvres with the U.S Army, in conjunction with USAAF Troop Carrier Wing, for paratroop and live ammunition  training, alongside the 101st and 82nd Airborne. Location was on a need to know basis.

There were a limited number of places for the 600ft static line jump scheduled for 19:30hrs.

Remember, don't tell anybody !

Careless talk costs lives !

Out on patrol with some members of the Homeguard and the U.S Airborne.

Many thanks to Roops for taking the photos, and a big thank you to all of Fox company, Roops, Barbara and Gordon, for their hospitality and friendship, it was a great night. The secret manoeuvres were a great bit of fun, unfortunately, the parachute jump did not take place as the pilot was feeling a bit air sick. The midges were out in force, and so was the anti-insect repellent. We had a big fire that kept most of the midges away, if you did not mind being smoked to death. I preferred the death. It was a lovely quiet setting, with no music, (the generator fell to pieces!),  just the crackling of the fire, the birds in the trees, and a small group becoming more and more inebriated. Thanks again "Fox Company".....

Ready for the patrol, John and Roger trying to get that all important twist out of the belt, it makes all the difference. Over 50, and they still can't dress themselves.... Honestly !
